Fertilization, Weed, and Insect Control Programs

Why is fertilization important for my lawn?
Fertilization is important because it provides needed nutrients that allow your grass to grow, thrive, and be healthy.  It can be compared to giving your grass a multi-vitamin.  Grass naturally absorbs nutrients from the air and soil.  However, it may not receive the proper nutrients or the proper amount of these nutrients on its own. Fertilization allows your lawn to be healthy, green, and thriving by receiving the proper amount of these needed nutrients.

Why is weed control important for the health of my lawn?
Weed control helps to do just that - control the weeds in your yard.  Weeds can come into the yard from a number of sources.  Just as they came into your yard, they can grow and propogate.  The more weeds in your yard, the less grass there will be.  One main reason why people want to control the weeds in their lawn is simply because of the appearance.

Why is insect control important?
One of the main pests to lawns are white grubs.  Grubs are the larvae of  a variety of species of  beetles, includng Japanese beetles.  Grubs feed on the roots of grass and can cause your lawn to have brown, deads spots.  This makes your lawn unsightly, unhealthy, and prone for further attack from other insects and pathogens.  Grubs are not the only pests but are the most common.  There are many insects that can attack your yard, some on the surface and some underground.  For a healthy lawn, insect control is a wise thing to consider.

What will lime do for my lawn?
Grasses do best with a neutral soil Ph such as a Ph of  7.0.  The soil, however, is hardly ever perfect and can use some additional help.  In most cases in our area the soil is acidic.  To bring the Ph of the soil up to a neutral state, you will need to add lime to the soil and neutralize the acid naturally found in it.  This will help make your lawn healthier and greener.
